SCALE MODEL OF PROPOSED HEAT SHIELD CONFIGURATION FOR NASA'S VIKING atmospheric entry vehicle for landing on Mars was prepared for test in AEDC's 16-foot transonic wind tunnel. Various configurations were tested in the two tunnels at conditions simulating flight in the Martian atmosphere at Mach numbers from 0.6 to 3. The tests were run for NASA and the Martin-Marietta Corp.
