F-15 "Eagle" STOL demonstrator models were tested at the Arnold Engineering Development Center for several years prior to the first flight in 1989. This 1985 photograph shows a model of the McDonnell Douglas Short Take-off/Landing demonstrator in the Center's 16-foot transonic wind tunnel.
